| General
Note:
Above distributors include internal parts and cap retaining clips. Other
parts may or may not be included. * See NOTES A & B below for
specific details on what parts come with each distributor.
Note A: The
21A electronic distributor is only available in 12V negative
ground. This is a stock remanufactured 21A crab style distributor specially
modified with the Petronix conversion. The pricing includes the
distributor, rotor, cap, and the special 12V coil in a single
package price. The core charge applies to these for the
distributor only. We will charge a $40.00 core
charge. This
will be refunded if a good rebuildable stock 21A type distributor
is sent in by the customer.
Note B: The
modified distributor (8BA-12127CP) is a Chev straight mechanical advance type,
modified to fit the Ford & Merc late style flathead V8 engine.
Each points type distributor will have brand new HD contact
points and new condensers, as well as new Delco caps and
rotors. Will fit the aluminum or cast iron
timing covers (with or without the lower support). New drive gears
are installed. Spark advance curve is limited for the flathead
using a machined brass limit bushing in the upper advance slot,
and is custom curved using advance springs to obtain 24º engine
advance (all in by 2500-2800 rpm). The pin on the timing cover is
usually 4º BTDC which makes for a total advance of 28º.
Dwell is set to 30 degrees. Each modified distributor is machined
tested and readjusted as needed before shipment. A 1.5 ohm
resister is included with each modified distributor. It is
suggested that a 1.5 ohm coil be used in all cases with the
resister for best contact life. The distributor hold-down can be
similar to the factory setup with a clamp on the cylinder head
using the aluminum plate mounted to the distributor housing, or
simple set screws can be utilized. Instructions are included. A $40.00
core charge
applies to these also. The core must be the Chevy type (late
1960's - early 70's) points type.
Note C: The
modified distributor (8BA-12127CE) is a Chev straight mechanical advance type,
