This view of Mount Washington, taken in 1939, is looking northeast. Beechmont Avenue is angling through the photograph. The water tower (surrounded by the wood scaffolding) is still under construction. Mount Washington Cemetery is in the foreground. Parking in the business district is the angle type on the east side and parallel parking on the west side of Beechmont Avenue. The large flat roofed building on the right hand side of Beechmont is Eckerts Department Store. The large two story house behind Eckerts was eventually removed and the area graded and paved for additional retail customer parking.
